My journey in yoga began as a preschooler, at my mother's side. Dance has also been a strong influence for me. However, yoga is my true passion and I have practiced it on my own for a good portion of my life. Yoga and meditation have truly brought the light into my life. It always feels like home when I step onto the mat or sit in meditation. Bringing the practice of mindfulness out into my everyday living is the true blessing.
Years ago, I began attending yoga classes to experience the sharing of yoga. The instructor, Jill Campana, encouraged me to attend teacher training for which I am very grateful and the journey continued.
My yoga certification is from Kanyakumari Ayurveda & Yoga Wellness Center (US), in Milwaukee, WI. I a registered Yoga Instructor with the National Yoga Alliance. My training is in Hatha Yoga with a blend of traditions and a strong base from Iyengar's "Light on Yoga" with an Ayurvedic influence. I have additional certification in Pre-natal yoga, Chair Yoga and Yoga Nidra. I am always training in Yoga Nidra. I completed 12 months of study and Certification as a Meditation Teacher through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago, IL. Studying under the guidance of Sri Goswami Kriyananda and Swami Pranananda was a life changing experience. In 2015 I completed the 18 month of "The Astral of Rebirth Course" with Goswami Kriyananda and Swami Pranananda. For seven years I continued my education in Mindfulness with Elesa Commerse in The Deep Study, an immersion in the wisdom trainings of meditation. I am current studying in Yoga Nidra and Paramashiva Yoga,
I have had the honor of instructing students from ages 6 to 92, in groups and private lessons. It is a joyful experience assisting individuals in addressing their challenges to find comfort and stability. Teaching is an experience, where both student and teacher are ever changing and evolving.
Yoga is not so much about the goal, as it is about the journey getting there. I invite you to join me on the journey to find your connection to body, mind, and spirit. To quote the wisdom of Kate Schrader Shawgo, "The journey begins with the first step... make it forward".
